We Have Made It a Year My Darling!

Dear Love,

I must say, this past year has been the most unpredictable year I could have imagined. It was full of hope, excitement, and most of all a kind of love that I never would have imagined existed until I saw and held you for the first time. I didn't realize until you were a part of my life that I wasn't complete all these years before you. You brighten my world beyond what you will ever be able to comprehend. I am so thankful and grateful that I have such a beautiful, smart, energetic, perfect little boy. You give me the energy and the will to keep going on those hard days, and everything I do, I do for you. You have blessed me more than you will ever know and I want you to always know that no matter what happens in the future you will always be loved. You have a huge family who adores you and loves you, and so many family friends (your aunties) who rave about you and are so proud of their baby boy. You have grasped many hearts and you are very special to us all. I am so blessed to be able to call you mine and this year has been the best year of my life thus far, and I can't wait to see what excitement, adventures, and mischief you will bring me in the years to come! You are ONE! YAY!

Sir, your first year has been one of the most turbulent years in history. You came into this world when much uncertainty was on the rise in our nation and around the world. You were born during a very historical year, so I wanted to list some of the major events that took place the first year of your life:

  • You were born during the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing
  • You were born during the Iraq War
  • Hurricane Ike hit Galveston, TX and caused huge devastation
  • Barack Obama was elected the first African American President
  • The United States entered a recession, mortgage giants crumbled, along with car manufactures.
  • Thousands of children in China were sickened by melamine in formula
  • Obama ended the stem cell research ban
  • Obama announced the date to end the Iraq War
  • Miracle on the Hudson occurred, All 155 passengers lives were spared
  • The United States declared a Public Health Emergency over the Swine Flu outbreak
These are just a few of the historical events that took place your first year of life, but of course, "you" happening is the most important event that happened this year for me!
